Case Study – The Outlets of Corpus Christi Bay

Overview
Commercial Restroom Partitions was recently contracted by Lockhard Construction for public restroom construction at The Outlets of Corpus Christi Bay. This new shopping facility, located along I-69 just 30 minutes from the beach, is being constructed to host iconic name brands in one of Texas’s most vibrant tourist areas.

This case study focuses on the construction of the men’s public restrooms in the mall commons areas.

Background
This part of Texas, known as the Coastal Bend, is home to a vibrant economy fueled by a number of economic factors. Over 4 billion dollars in worker salaries have been fueled by the Eagle Ford Shale Sector. Tax revenues in Nueces County have also increased as a result of this growth. A new offshore oil facility is being redeveloped from the former Ingleside Naval Station, and the local aerospace industry is also attracting over 30 billion dollars in project investment capital. Last but not least, over 8 million tourists visit the area each year.

Location of Men’s Public Restrooms
The common area men’s restrooms are located in buildings 3, 4, 6, and 5. Building 5 has 2 men’s room, while the other buildings have one men’s room each.

Installation Details
The men’s room entrance opens to a small foyer separated from the restroom proper by a small half wall. We installed a baby changing station on the opposite side of this half wall. The lavatory area is located on the right side wall, just past the interior foyer entrance. Here, we installed two mirrors and two lavatory mounted soap dispensers. We also constructed an ADA restroom stall and two restroom stalls, fully furnished with accessories and cubbies for shopping bags. Finally, we mounted a urinal screen between the two urinals opposite the stall configuration.

Equipment Highlights
Solid Plastic Toilet Partitions and Urinal Screen
Solid plastic partitions have become a preferred choice for public restroom construction in humid environments like the Texas Gulf Coast. The toffee colored bathroom partitions we installed are manufactured from 100% recycled high-density polyethylene. The toffee colored screen, also made from solid plastic, measures 48 inches high and bracket mounts to the wall.

Grab Bar Assembly
This ADA compliance assembly consists of an 18 inch, a 36 inch, and a 48-inch grab bar. Bars are made from 18 gauge stainless steel tubing and feature concealed mounting flanges and screws.

Lavatory Mounted Soap Dispensers
Lavatory mounting makes these units vandal resistant and easy for users to access. Spouts are corrosion resistant and turn freely for user convenience.

Frameless Mirrors
Made from ¼ inch thick polished glass, these mirrors are easy to mount and contribute attraction factor to any public restroom design.

Baby Changing Station
This unit features solid plastic construction treated with an anti-microbial agent. Unit features no pinch point hinges and instructions in both English and Spanish.

Shopping Bag Cubbies
Cubbies were cut into the rear wall on the right side of each toilet so that shoppers can have a place to put their items while using the restroom.
