The water closet has come a long way from its origin, circa 1775, when Alexander Cummins presented the first components for patent. The first water closet consisted of a Seat, a Bowl and a Cistern. The Seat fitted to the Bowl and served as the Toilet and the Cistern was used to clean out the bowl after use. Now days that water closet consists of a Toilet with a Built In Cistern or Flush Mechanism, Toilet Seat and surrounding privacy walls known as partitions.
