Case Study – The Outlets of Corpus Christi Bay

Overview
The Corpus Christi Bay area of Southeast Texas is an underserved marketplace when it comes to name brand retail shoes, clothing, and household products. The Outlets of Corpus Christi Bay outdoor mall has been constructed to meet the needs of this dynamic marketplace. Commercial Restroom Partitions was contracted by Lockard Companies to play a pivotal roll in this project.

This case study focuses on the build out of the women’s public restrooms located in the commons areas.

Background
The Corpus Christi is home to over 33,000 students who attend area colleges. Texas A&M Corpus Christi alone houses over 10,000 of these students. Additionally, over 8 million people per year visit this part of the Texas Coast. As a favored destination spot for Texans, Corpus resides within 3 ½ hours drive of over 52% of the state population. Between 5 and 10 percent of the local economy depends on tourism.

This new outlet center is expected to thrive in this environment. Adjacent to the Nueces County Fairgrounds, it only 30 minutes from the beach and just minutes from Corpus Christi proper. This multi-building facility features numerous name-brand stores, a restaurant/bar, and a public food court.

Location of Women’s Public Restrooms
Women’s public restrooms are located in buildings 3, 4, 5, and 6. Building 5 has 2 restrooms. The remaining buildings have 1 women’s public restroom each.

Installation Details
Each women’s restroom opens into a small foyer separated from the bathroom by a half wall. Opposite this right wall, we created a vanity area with a full-length mirror. Within the restroom proper, we installed a baby changing station, 1 ADA compliant restroom stall, and 3 regular stalls. Each stall has a storage cubby in which users can place bagged items.

Equipment Details
Solid Plastic Toilet Partitions
Toffee colored partitions consist of 100% recycled HDPE (high-density polyethylene). They are highly resistant to moisture, impact, and graffiti.

Grab Bars
Grab bars measure 18, 36, and 48 inches respectively and are 3 ¼ inches in diameter. They are manufactured from 18-gauge satin-finish steel tubing. Cover snaps conceal the mounting flanges and screws.

Toilet Tissue Dispensers
These dispensers are equipped with tumbler locks. Each dispenser holds two 10-inch rolls. A sliding panel allows access to one roll at a time.

Seat Cover Dispensers
Seat cover dispensers are semi-recessed units that hold 500 seat covers each.

Lavatory Mounted Soap Dispensers
These dispensers conveniently mounted inside the top of the lavatory counter. This provides users with quick access and adds attraction factor by concealing the soap reservoir beneath the countertop.

Surface Mounted Soap Dispenser
We also installed a surface mounted dispenser to the wall for added convenience.

Surface Mount Napkin Disposals
Each stall was fitted with napkin disposals with self-closing panel covers and a removable disposal unit.

Mirrors
Frameless mirrors are manufactured from ¼ inch plate glass and meet government specifications for ASTM. Mirrors surface mounts to the wall with hardware we supplied. The larger mirror, measuring 36×30 inches, was vertically mounted in the vanity area. Three additional mirrors, measuring 24×36 inches, were mounted above the lavatories.

Baby Changing Station
This unit surface mounts to the wall with hardware included in the purchase. It is manufactured from high-density polyethylene treated with an antimicrobial additive.
